Rudy’s Recipe: Potato in a Can

Is a perfect baked potato while camping elusive? It’s not as hard to achieve as you think! I came across this great post about baked potatoes in a can and had to share it.

Potato in a Can

You Need:

  • Cleaned, whole potatoes
  • Tins cans, such as from vegetables
  • Aluminum Foil

Make ‘Em:

Make sure your potatoes are thoroughly cleaned and dry. Also, make sure the tin can has the label removed and is clean.

Butter the outside of the potato (use quite a lot of butter) and then season to your liking. Cajun seasoning would be good or just use plain ole salt and pepper.

Next place the potato in the tin can and cover it with aluminum foil. Put the can next to your coals and let it cook for about 30-45 minutes. Do not remove the tin foil! The result will be a perfect baked potato.

“Design our T” Contest

Here’s your chance to really be involved with our Halloween Weekends. We want you to come up with the 2011 Halloween T-shirt design!

In past years we’ve dressed Rudy up in various costumes. This year we’re asking you what you think Rudy should be for Halloween! So far Rudy has been a ghost, wizard, vampire, werewolf, Dr. Rudolph and Mr. Hide and a mummy. What’s next?!

To enter, simply submit your creative T-shirt idea to us at info@lakerudolph.com. One idea per person please. You have until Friday, June 10 at 11:59pm CT to submit your idea. Should we have the same idea from different folks we’ll just draw out the winner … that seems fair.

We’ve been thinking of designs too, so we do reserve the right to stick with our own concept. But … if we like your idea and choose you as the winner, you and your family will win four Halloween Weekend T-Shirts! And bragging rights of course. 🙂

You must be 18 years of age to enter. Employees, and their family members, of Lake Rudolph and the Santa Claus Christmas Store are not eligible to enter.

Get those creative juices flowing!
